5 Tips For Boosting Your Mental Fitness

We go above and beyond to make sure out bodies are fit, so why not do the same for our mental state? We’re smack in the midst of Mental Health Awareness Month, so it’s the perfect time to get some reminders that we’re taking care of US. “Forbes” compiled a couple of quick hints for maximizing our mental health...here they are:

  • Get Enough Sleep– Sleep is a necessity in order for your immune system to function the way it needs to. Apparently, the U.S. loses about $411-billion each year due to sleep deprivation. So, no more #teamnosleep, you need six to eight hours.
  • Fuel Your Brain– We’re sure you’re familiar with “brain food,” right? See…it’s like this—your brain is your car and it needs gas to keep pushing along. Instead of snacking on candy all the time, grab some fruits and nuts. Healthy stuff. There’s a reason “healthy” is in the phrase. Your brain will thank you later.
  • Stress Less, Laugh More– Stress SUCKS. Not only is it exhausting – it makes you moody…which has you sucking the life out of everyone around you. No one wants to be a Debbie Downer, or be around one! Learn how not to sweat the small stuff. LAUGH IT OFF!
  • Create Connections– As humans, we areconnectorsat heart. Think about when you meet someone that is passionate about the same things you’re passionate about, it’s so exciting! That’s good for the mental!
  • Take The “Green Pill”– By the green pill,we mean get into tune with nature. It’s an awesome feeling. Decent day? GET OUTSIDE! Get the sun on your skin and take a walk. You’ll be glad you did!
