Most of Us Save Our Vacation Days for Summer

With this weekend marking the unofficial start of summer, there’s a good chance you’ll start seeing your office a bit emptier each week, with people heading off for vacation. In fact, a new poll finds that summer is one of the more popular times of year for people to take off. 

An AccounTemps survey reveals that 58% of workers save their vacation time for the summer months of June, July and August. Overall, 31% of employees plan to take between one and five days off during the summer, while 29% will take between five and ten.

As for where more people are taking off, Los Angeles tops the list with 74% of employees saving their vacation time for summer, followed by New York and Detroit (71%), and Miami (69%). On the flipside, those in Phoenix are the least likely to be saving vacation for summer (44%), followed by Tampa (46%) and Nashville (48%)

  • And when it comes to amount of days, those in San Francisco are taking the most with 13, followed by New York and Miami, where folks will take about 12.
