Chef Boyardee Bowls Recalled Over Labeling Mix Up

The USDA initiated a recall on nearly 3,000 pounds of Chef Boyardee chicken and rice products, due to mislabeling and the possibility of "undeclared allergens."

Several of the 7.5-oz. microwavable Rice With Chicken & Vegetables bowls were misbranded and actually contain ravioli.

The USDA is asking consumers to throw out or return any packages of the brand's chicken and rice products with a package code of 210090151050045L, a best by date of July 8, 2020 and were shipped to retailers in Florida, Kentucky and New York.

The company said they were alerted to the problem after consumers complained of opening up the product labeled as “rice with chicken & vegetables” to find it was beef ravioli. While no adverse effects have been reported, the impacted products may contain milk and wheat, which is not declared on the label.
