Actresses to Wear Black at Golden Globes Protesting Harassment in Hollywood

Golden Globes, Black Dresses

This year has come with much controversy, especially in Hollywood. Accusations against Harvey Weinstein have encouraged other victims of sexual harassment, sexual assault, and rape to come forward with their stories. So, during the upcoming Golden Globes, actresses will reportedly be protesting harassment in Hollywood by wearing black to the annual awards show.

According to PEOPLE, many of the major actresses in Hollywood will be wearing black as a symbol of protest. This includes both presenters at 2018's Golden Globes, as well as nominees. And in case you need a reminder, celebs like Meryl Streep, Emma Stone, Jessica Chastain, Margot Robbie, and more are among those nominated. In fact, a source tells PEOPLE, "All female actresses attending the Globes are protesting by just wearing black gowns."

PEOPLE also reports that this protest isn't just confined to the Golden Globes either, and that it will "extend throughout awards season." Popular show, The Morning Breath, also has also confirmed the news of this form of protest.

This year, actresses including Lupita Nyong'o, Gweyneth Paltrow, Salma Hayek, Julia Roberts, among others have all spoken out against famed movie producer Harvey Weinstein, which has led to both men and women coming forward with accusations against others in Hollywood. Kevin Spacey, Louis C.K., Jeffrey Tambor, Russell Simmons, and many others have all been accused of sexual misconduct.

The Golden Globes will take place on Sunday, January 7th and air live on NBC at 8pm ET/5pm PT, and will be hosted by Seth Meyers.
