The Billboard Music Awards honored the best and brightest of the year last night and much of the talk behind-the-scenes and on the red carpet was about the new documentary that just premiered at the Cannes Film Festival that focuses on one of the awards show’s most decorated artists, the late great Whitney Houston.
The film makes several controversial accusations against family members and doesn’t shy away from Whitney’s struggles with substance abuse.
Variety summed up her tragic story in their review, writing: "As a singer she was blessed with a gift that could heal the world. What she lacked was the greatest love of all."
Whitney hits theaters July 6th.
